Summer Wrap up

Lots has taken place since I last blogged...whew!
Our home sold and we are officially renters out in Oakdale. The boys (all3) are loving the new home which backs up to a pond. They make it out there 3-4 times weekly to fish, feed the geese, and mess around. Drew is becoming quite the fisherman like his daddy...Max loves to dig in the dirt and walks right up to the geese even while being hissed at.
We have also managed to use the neighborhood pool and park which has been great! Drew is an amazing swimmer and loves doing flips and diving down to the bottom of the pool to find things. Max still wears a lifejacket but is fearless and is always putting his face right in and swims "like Bubba."
In May, John and I left the boys with our parents for a few days and headed to Laguna Beach, CA. What a beautiful place! I'm ready to go back!
D graduated from Kindergarten and had a really fun school year. Some of his accomplishments included winning a gold medal for his age group in the 5 school arts festival. He was very proud. He has also learned to start reading and recoginizes many words...still a work in progress tho. His skills with numbers is amazing...I think that math will be his strength...just like Daddy.
Max had a great year at MDO and loved going throughout the summer as well. He talks about friends from his class and loved seeing D there on Thursdays. Max's favorite school activity (I think) was listening to Mr. Carl? play his guitar while singing London Bridge.
June flew by and I'm not even sure what we did other than try to stay cool...swimming, trips to Braum's, Omniplex, friend's pools, swim lessons, etc. We also met up with my cousin Megan and her family in Bville for a fun weekend. Drew and Max really loved Parker & Tenny.
July 4th was an all Thompson family weekend held at our home. It was great having all the kids together and trying to get the perfect snapshot of them all in their Red White and Blue shirts. Too cute! The boys loved the fireworks as well! D & Evan continued their vacation going to Muskogee for a week with Nana and Pop. What a fun time they'll always remember!
My cousin Rami and her husband Rob made a short visit here as well. We had fun hanging out with them and managed a visit to the round barn and POPS.
D and I then headed to St.Louis, Paxton, and Chicago with my parents for a quick trip. Nana and Pop kept Max...he loved this--visiting the ambulance station and going to eat at Red Monster (red lobster) and playing in his OWN pool of bark...yes, bark! Nana is so creative!
D and Mom headed up St.Louis arch while Dad and I people watched. He said this was his favorite part of the trip...thanks Mom!
We then headed up to Paxton to see Opa--he was great and I'm so glad Drew really knows his great grandpa! Opa looks the exact same as the last time I saw him 4 years ago--what a wonderful man who is still so sharp at 91~
Finally, we made it to Wrigley to see the Cubbies...thanks Dad! I've been looking forward to this trip since I found out we were having a boy back in 2004! Altho the heat was bad, it was so fun and great memories were made for Drew.
We raced back just in time to catch a flight to Sanibel Island, FL --another one of my very favorite places! Details to follow...hopefully soon!

Growing up before our eyes!

Lots to report on Drew
1~He is losing teeth by the week! He has now lost 4 teeth with the last one being the 2nd of the top two teeth...it does make him talk a little funny. He actually wanted the tooth fairy leave him a tooth, so the tooth fairy obliged...
Drew has 3 more "wigglers" --the tooth fairy is running out of $!
2~This kid loves his music like a teenager! It all started with Justin Beiber around Christmas time...If I had to hear Baby Baby one more time, I thought I'd die. Max even sings J.Beiber! Last weekend we were driving to Tulsa for a wedding and Drew started instructing John to switch the radio stations until he found one he liked and knew the song. A few times John & I just looked at each other in amazement...he knew the words to all these pop songs! Wow!
3~Drew is really liking sports. He goes out each day and shoots 100's and 100's of hoops! He also knows all the Thunder players and really gets into the games. A few of his favorite players include: KD and Blake Griffin.
T-ball has started and he really is enjoying that as well....asking John to "t it up" every night and wanting to play catch (fly balls are his favorite) after school. Last game he hit it over the 2nd baseman...fun to watch!
4~Drew is also really into school stuff...always adding numbers in his head (usually quicker than Mom but not Dad) and wanting us to give him math problems. He has even figured out the multiplying concept...neat to see this!
5~We also have a little Picasso on our hands. A few weeks ago, Drew was chosen Artist of the Month at school for the kindergarten classes. He was thrilled. A week later his art teacher sent a note home saying that his art work (Rainy Day Kids) had been selected to be judged at the school Arts Festival. Last Friday I went with him to the Art Festival which was made up of 5 private schools and 10 judges/artists. I noticed a blue Superior ribbon on his art work. When awards were handed out, Drew received a gold medal--1st place! for this art. He was so thrilled and I was so happy for him, I almost cried!
Being 6 is fun!

Max being Max

Max continues to make us laugh and shake our heads...here are a few of Max's latest.
*He is in charge...he won't hesitate to hit Drew (with any toy/weapon that happens to be in his hand the time>) and he will scream the worst highest pitched scream you have ever heard to get his way. He will even scream at Drew when Drew is simply walking past him.
*He loves his pizza...last week, he did not want to wait (I'm not sure why he is so impatient!?) for his pizza so he simply grabbed the bag off the counter, sat down, and proceeded to dig into an enormous piece of supreme!
*He is all about cars, trucks, trailers (they are hooked up Mom!) diggers, dump trucks, bob cats, etc. It makes our drive to OCS very entertaining.
*He speaks in paragraphs...It's amazing what he can say!
*He now has a great habit of waking in the night for a drink of water...ugh! then after the water,he always manages a sweet, "are you happy?" comment---this is his most famous quote so far!
*He asks me "are you ok," "need anything?," and the latest when I came down the hall in a dress, "are you married?" Who knows where he got that.
*He likes bad words...I won't repeat what he's said lately, but it starts with a d, has 6 letters and ends with a t. Ugh!
*Max is really remembering things now like telling me he cried on the couch at school, grandpa called him Goofball, he likes to eat bacon with Sadie and Pop, Nana says Wolderdoot, and Grandma has a train by her office. the other night we were reading a book and I paused for a second and he finished the line of the story...It was amazing!
*Drew is his favorite friend and he wants to be around D at all times!
*People are telling me often how cute he is, so recently he told me, "I'm a cutie."
That's Max being Max... :)

Drew's Random Ramblings

These recent comment and questions by Drew were just too cute and entertaining not to record! 1~Mom, is that show inappropriate? No Drew, inappropriate shows are usually just shows that have bad words. Oh, bad words like bully-shit? 2~I'm not sure I believe in the Easter bunny. Why, Drew? The last time I saw him, he was wearing tennis shoes! 3~Mom, come in the garage and watch me do a Blake Griffin! I go out there, and he has Max's Diego four wheeler in front of the basketball goal ready to leap over it and dunk the ball. Drew, not a good idea. I know! (If you didn't watch the slam dunk contest, this won't make much sense) 4~Dad, if you're as little as Max do you only have like 1 or 2 things in your head? 5~When you get old do you lose your teeth? Yes, you do sometimes because your teeth start to fall out. Does Opa get money from the tooth fairy when he loses his teeth?

Patience. Patience. What's that?

Well, I am woking on my patience...and it's very hard...from the time I wake in the morning until the time I go to bed, I have to work on this. Primarily, it's with the boys...making them listen, getting them to do what we ask, working on new skills, manners. Well, it's not just primarily with the boys, it' s with me too. Just like as I try to type this, Max is wakin gup from a not so great nap. Ugh! Patience in getting the house in order....patience in getting our house on the market, patience in waiting for some showings...any day now!!! One day we WILL get a house built and will finally settle in as I like to say. I just read another gal's blog talking about enjoying the right now...so here goes my attempt at patience. I will enjoy these quiet moments (yes, I just ran upstairs and told Max to go "night night") and will enjoy the boys more...my daily goal...all centered around patience. Back to the boys and back to my theme...I will be more patient when I ask Drew to do something multiple times, and he shoots MULTIPLE baskets before listening to me. Gosh, does that boy love basketball...he's either KD or Blake Griffin, but he always wins...gotta love his competitive spirit...didn't get that from me! I will also be patient when I ask Drew again to do something and it takes him 10 minutes to get off the ipad...really?! Yes, this is his other love, the ipad and music. He is up on all the latest music which isn't always so great. Reminds me of a teen and he's only 6!!! I will be patient when Max tells me "no," "go away," "be quiet," or when he walks up to the tv and spouts out "oh shit!" of course right in front of my mother in law who along with Drew giggled uncontrollable. Gosh, it was funny, but it surprised me too! I will also be patient when Max says, "HEYYYYYY MOMMMYYYYY" for the 15th time after he's been put to bed, had his doggy brought to him, been given another drink of wawa. I will also practice this patience thing when he wants to watch his favorites: Chuggington, Dora, Backyardagins, and Letter Factory...not necessarily in that order. Can't I just listen to my favorite XM station The Bridge, or even better, MY favorite, the Sports Animal for a few minutes? Ahh! Love my boys...all 3 of them...being the only gal around here though can test your...yes, you guessed it...your patience!

SNOW!!!

Drew's wish came true! 10 plus inches arrived on Tuesday morning...he has now been out of school for 3 days. It's been fun, and he absolutely loves the snow. The first day he and John rode all over the neighborhood in the four wheeler, shoveled, and messed around even while it was blowing and freezing! Max actually got to step out in it as well. He mainly hung in the garage but liked it---this is the first snowfall he's gotten to enjoy since last Christmas he wasn't walking. Yesterday, D and I got back out in the snowy mess...we put down more ice melt (his idea!) and played with the tube! The backyard has lots of great drifts, so that's his mission for day 3--today. Thank goodness for all of our great snow gear!
Staying inside for 3 days has been trying but D and I are on an organizing binge...we're getting things shaped up around here...we've also made lots of fun Valentine's surprises as well as a chocolate (PW) sheetcake and a val.cake...yum!
